PRODUCT DELIVERS INDUSTRIAL TECHNOLOGY TO RURAL CONSUMERS

Developed by Cambridge company Larsram Ltd, with the help of Sharp Concepts, pure~natureflow effectively removes all bacteria from untreated rural bore and rain water using scaled down cross flow membrane technology.

Rural consumers can now cost effectively treat their drinking water with the same leading edge water purification technology used by the dairy and food industries.

Developed by Cambridge company Larsram Ltd, with the help of Hamilton’s Sharp Concepts, pure~natureflow effectively removes all bacteria from untreated rural bore and rain water using scaled down cross flow membrane technology.

The pure~natureflow membrane works by sweeping any water-borne bacteria or parasites, including E.coli and Giardia, back down the drain rather than trapping it in a deadend filter which has the potential to leak contaminants back into the drinking water once it is full. This ensures that the purity of the resulting drinking water remains constant, and is able to meet the water safety standards specified for the likes of rural recreational facilities, cafes and schools.

According to Larsram director, Brent Marshall, "Up until now, this type of technology has only been available for large scale commercial applications, and has not been economically viable for consumer use. What we have managed to do with pure~natureflow is effectively downsize the technology for domestic use and make it available for a fraction of the commercial cost."

Larsram Ltd was initially established three years ago as a distributor of commercial filtration membranes predominately aimed at the dairy, food and beverage industries. A recognised need for similar technology within the rural sector inspired Marshall, a former membrane plant designer for the dairy industry, to design a consumer version of the technology. With the help of the product development team at Sharp Concepts, Larsram developed pure~natureflow as an under-sink model for domestic use, and in a larger wall-mounted unit for small businesses, campsites and schools.

"A major benefit of pure~natureflow is that it eliminates any possibility of contaminants leaking through the membrane back into the drinking water," Marshall says. "People concerned about bacteria in their water will be very reassured with this product."

Pure~natureflow is expected to be a big export earner and Larsram is already in the process of finalising distributorships in Ireland and the UK.

So if you need the technical excellence to produce robust and cost-effective solutions, Sharp Concepts can assure you of a sharp result.
