SHARP MACHINE UP-GRADE SIGNIFICANTLY INCREASES COMPANY CAPABILITY

State-of-the-art industrial design, advanced engineering expertise, and the in-house ability to build custom-designed machinery and tools have enabled Sharp Concepts to up-grade a 30-year-old machine which has significantly enlarged the production capacity of their parent company, ES Plastics.

Recently purchased from Melbourne, the second-hand injection moulding machine weighs 47 tonnes, has a clamp capacity of 800 tonnes, and is able to produce plastic injected moulded products up to a maximum weight of 3.5 kilograms.

To modernise the machine the team at Sharp Concepts utilised their advanced industrial design and engineering skills to make it more intelligent and efficient to run. Included in the up-grade was a new computerised control system which replaced the original electronic relay control, and the refurbishment of all the machine's hydraulics and moving components.

Jeff Sharp, Sharp Concepts' Managing Director says, "The new machine up-grade required a fair amount of resource from Sharp Concepts but we had the in-house expertise to do it. We have also successfully built several custom-designed machines for clients and we are also always keen to get involved in machinery refurbishment projects which require a large design component. There are considerable savings to be had by buying an existing machine and redesigning it to make it more modern."

According to Jeff, the addition of the new machine within the ES Plastics plant has made the already comprehensive service offered by Sharp Concepts even more extensive.

He says, "The significance of the new moulding machine is that Waikato businesses can now have both the design and development of large plastic products done locally without having to outwork the manufacturing elsewhere. Having a local manufacturer able to produce large components close at hand has the potential to reduce their freight costs quite considerably."

So if you need quality moulded components Sharp Concepts can assure you of a sharp result.
